BC Sports Hall of Fame Names new CEO

Michelle Kitchen brings more than 25 years of Executive Business & Marketing Experience

Vancouver, BC – The BC Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce that Michelle Kitchen, an executive business and marketing leader and sports enthusiast – has been named CEO of the BC Sports Hall of Fame.

“We are very proud to announce Michelle Kitchen as our new CEO on the strength of the vast array of leadership qualities, experience and expertise that she brings to the table, in both the private and not-for-profit sectors,” says Tom Mayenknecht, Chair of the BC Sports Hall of Fame. “She joins our team at a pivotal point in the history of the BC Sports Hall and at an exciting juncture in the evolution of a strategic plan that is designed to celebrate our Honoured Members, cultivate sustainable partnerships and invoke inspirational experiences for all.”

“I am thrilled and humbled to take on this new challenge,” says Kitchen. “I know that the BC Sports Hall of Fame has a long and proud history in our province. I look forward to beginning to work with all of those who are instrumental in making this such a special place, building on the solid foundation that has been established, and working alongside our team to bring the organization to the next level.”

Kitchen comes with more than 25 years of executive business and marketing leadership experience. She has championed and advised global and national brands and has a reputation for achieving business and brand success through strategically creative and innovative ideas. Her experience includes serving as COO for Sparkit Media Inc., the first technology platform using crowdsourcing and non-branded content to revolutionize Influencer Marketing.

Previously as the EVP & Managing Director at global advertising agency DDB Canada, Michelle was responsible for the agency’s operations and growth strategies along with the strategic leadership of national, provincial and local destination and hospitality brands. Kitchen has held business leadership roles at leading advertising and marketing agencies with experience spanning across an array of sectors including automotive, consumer packaged goods, education, entertainment, financial services, gaming, retail, technology, telecommunications, and travel & tourism. She also serves on the Board of Directors for two non-profit organizations: Dress for Success, an organization that provides career development and a network of support to empower women to reach their full potential and achieve economic independence; and the Jericho Tennis Club.

Kitchen, who will be accountable to the Board of Trustees and report directly to Mayenknecht as Chair, replaces Nicholas Cartmell who left the post in March for a leadership role at Chairman-Mills, Ltd. after having served for four years as CEO of the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
