Eileen (George) Underhill came to Vancouver in 1910. Considered to be BC’s best female badminton player prior to World War II, she dominated the sport for over a decade. With her husband, Jack Underhill, she won the national mixed doubles championships for three consecutive years. The Underhills became the first husband and wife to be inducted to the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
Eileen won the BC singles title twelve times in 1920-30 and 1932 and shared the BC doubles title eleven times from 1920-28 and 1930-31). She shared the BC mixed doubles title six times–with G.H. George in 1926 and with husband Jack Underhill in 1928-31 and 1935.
Eileen won the Canadian singles title three times and captured the Canadian mixed doubles title four times in 1926 with J.G. Muir and 1929-31 with husband Jack.
