Position Overview
Reporting to the CEO, the Manager, Communications & Brand Experience will be responsible for planning, development and implementation of all the Organization’s marketing strategies, communications, education community outreach, public relations activities, and management of the brand experience. Oversees all marketing campaigns and ties marketing and service activity back to organizational goals. Key point of contact for media partners and communications agencies. Supports the CEO on development of sponsorship packages & presentations, and grant submissions.
We are looking for candidates with proven experience and success in stewarding communications and brand profile, channel management, social media management and leading marketing outreach and execution.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning:
- Works with CEO to develop Communications strategies and plans that support the Business Goals and strategies.
- Plans, manages, and leads the execution of all aspects of communications, marketing, brand elements and brand channels.
- Works closely with staff to design and implement communications strategies and effective messaging for organizational and project-specific goals.
- Works with the CEO & Comptroller to develop annual budgets for marketing & communications, and monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
- Manages some organizational partnerships that support organizational marketing and fundraising goals.
- Keeps team informed and updated at Weekly Staff meeting and identifies deliverables to support all project and program initiatives.
Brand Management:
- Develops, implements, and evaluates an annual marketing and communications plan that includes social media, print and digital content, and email marketing.
- Ensures that brand identity, messaging and marketing and communications strategy are infused in all organizational efforts (programming, outreach, sponsor development, community support).
- Develops, implements, and evaluates marketing campaigns related to programs, special events, and donor cultivation.
- Manages and executes educational outreach (Hero in You program) and fosters relationships with educational organizations and educators/teachers to facilitate resource materials and school tours.
Content Strategy and Management:
- Oversees the development, design, distribution, and maintenance of high-quality content to support project initiatives, brand elements, and external and internal communications.
- Leads the strategy and generation of engaging digital content for the websites, social media and email channels.
- Leads the social media management and cultivation plan.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Minimum of 5+ years directly related experience in communications and brand management.
- A University degree in a related field or completion of a post-secondary marketing program.
- Passionate about sport and honouring sport culture.
- Excellent project management, implementation and evaluation skills.
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the successful development and execution of marketing campaigns, communications and public relations activities.
- Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal skills, with the experience of managing multiple projects at a time.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience developing and implementing successful social marketing strategies.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and administrative skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to exercise initiative and self-motivation and, at the same time, work collaboratively within a team.
- Effective relationship builder particularly with staff, vendors, sponsors, educators and partners.
- Ability to work under pressure and produce high quality work to deadline while maintaining composure.
- Highly adept in Microsoft Office suite of programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint),
- Experienced with tracking financials and have a strong understanding of budgets.
- Ability to work from our office at BC Place
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle would be an asset.
