How do I book a birthday party?

Drop us a line at birthdays@bcsportshall.com and our Program Ambassador will be happy to help you!

When can I have a birthday party?

We offer birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays. You can either come to the Sports Hall from 10-12 or from 1-3.

How much does it cost?

A standard birthday party package costs $325 plus tax. Optional loot bags can be added on for $6 plus tax per kid. An elite birthday party package costs $575 plus tax. See above for the difference between these options.

How does payment work?

Once you’ve booked a birthday party, you’ll receive an invoice via email. We ask that you pay a non-refundable $100 deposit ahead of time. The invoice comes with instructions for online payment. The rest of your party costs are due on the day of the event, but you’re welcome to pay online in advance as well.

What ages are birthday parties for?

BC Sports Hall of Fame birthday parties are designed with kids aged roughly 6-10 in mind. That being said, if your birthday kid (or teen, or adult) falls outside of this age range and is interested in a party here, let us know and we’ll be happy to work something out!

How many kids can come to a party?

Up to 15 kids are included in a party package. Extra kids can be admitted for $10 each.

How many adults can come to a party?

Up to 4 adults are included in a party package. Extra adults can be admitted for $20 each.

Can very small children join in?

Children aged 4 and under get free admission, with adult accompaniment. We ask that any small children have an adult buddy/supervisor keep an eye on them. Keep in mind that some of the party activities aren’t a good fit for very small children, and they may need to sit out. Let us know ahead of time if any small children are in your party, and we’re more than happy to accommodate them!

Can we arrive early/stay late?

The birthday kid’s family may arrive up to 30 minutes early to set up, and stay up to 30 minutes after the end of the party to pack out and gather belongings. However, we ask that guests stick to your assigned 2-hour window.

What’s included in a regular party package?

-Access to the museum’s galleries, displays, and interactive activities

-Exclusive access to a birthday party room where your guests can have cake and exchange presents

-1 30-minute party activity of your choice, hosted by one of our staff. You can check out our choices of activity HERE.

-Play time in the museum’s Participation Zone; this space features an assortment of sports activities, including a bubble hockey table, a climbing wall, and a sprinting track.

-Optional loot bags. These are priced at $6 per kid, plus tax, and added onto the base cost of a standard party.

What’s included in an elite party package?

-Everything included in the standard party package (see above).

-Festive decorations in the birthday party room

-Pizza and beverages. We usually do juice boxes for the beverages, but we can also arrange for water or soda if you’d prefer.

-Napkins, plates, and utensils

-Loot bags (unlike the standard party, loot bags are included in the base price of the elite party package)

What do I need to bring to a party?

We ask that you provide your own birthday cake and candles. For a standard party, please also bring your own party decorations, beverages, plates, utensils, and any other desired food (snacks, pizza, etc.). For an elite party, we provide the decorations, tableware, beverages, and pizza, so all you need to do is provide your own cake and candles.

What’s included in the loot bags?

We customize the loot bags based around the birthday kid’s interests. They generally include a toy that has something to do with the birthday kid’s favourite sport; in the past, we’ve given out miniature table hockey games, hockey pucks, mini Whitecaps soccer balls, and stress balls that look like basketballs. Loot bags also generally include some sports-themed colouring sheets, a small edible treat (i.e. a few little pieces of chocolate, or a mini bag of chips), and 2-3 other trinkets. Popular trinkets include sports-themed pencils and erasers, hockey cards, rubber bouncy balls, stickers, and temporary tattoos. Please note that the contents of loot bags are subject to change based on availability.

What are the activities?

See HERE for a list of options! Please note the stadium tour is subject to availability, based on BC Place’s schedule.

Do I have to pick just one activity?

Yes. That being said, our parties are designed with plenty of time for pizza, cake, and presents, as well as free time in the Participation Zone. Even though your party only includes one hosted activity, there’s lots of other fun things to do during your time at the Sports Hall!

Can we have a tour of the museum?

A guided tour is one of the possible activities. You’re also welcome to choose a different hosted activity and take a self-guided walk through the galleries during free time. If you opt for the self-guide, please make sure everyone, especially kids, follows museum rules. No running, no touching the artifacts, and be respectful of other museum visitors, please.

Where do the activities take place?

Weather permitting, we like to host activities on the concrete court outside the museum. Otherwise, activities take place in the lobby space inside Gate A (right outside the museum entrance), or in the Participation Zone inside the Hall of Fame.Food, cake, and presents all happen in the birthday party room.

Can I visit the museum galleries during the party?

Yes! That being said, we insist that everyone in the galleries follow museum rules. No running, no touching the artifacts, keep voices down, be respectful of other museum visitors. Children visiting the galleries must be supervised by an adult. These rules don’t apply to the birthday party room and the Participation Zone. In fact, we encourage running in the Participation Zone, since it features a sprinting track!

Is there parking?

We don’t have an underground parking lot of our own, but there are over a dozen parkades and parking lots within a two-block radius of the museum. Beatty and Robson streets also have metered street parking. The Hall of Fame is also about a 5-minute walk from Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain station, and there is a bike rack outside the main entrance, at Gate A of BC Place.

Is there a fridge or freezer to store my birthday cake?

Yes, we have both a fridge and freezer! Just let us know ahead of time if you need to use them.

Where do parents drop off their kids for the party?

Kids can be dropped off at Gate A of BC Place (between Robson and Georgia streets, by the Terry Fox sculpture). Inside Gate A, there’s a lobby area and the entrance to the BC Sports Hall. We ask that children are accompanied by an adult until they reach the Sports Hall’s front desk.
